All in all, #Alive started out pretty good but the intensity waned as the movie progressed. It was a good film but it failed to commit to the horror idea. As a result, it became a conversation about mental health and social media. Go figure.

Audiences should not be attacked for the type of content that they prefer. And art should know no race. Good cinema is good cinema is good cinema. It transcends language and boundaries. If we want to bring local cinema to the attention of the world, our filmmakers should be open to different world views and approaches. Our local industry should be mindful of quality even while balancing it with profitability. 

Klaus was the perfect film to watch for the holidays but I have a feeling that this will become my picker upper any time of the year. Its just sparks a feel good feeling that was a result of all the elements fof the film coming together — the great story, the beautiful artwork, the seamless animation and great direction from Sergio Pablos. It was just great. Kudos to everyone involved.

Eli was a solid addition to Netflix’s original horror films. While it was not an entirely original concept to blow audiences’ minds, it knew what it wanted to achieve and did not stray the course with excessive bravado. It just delivered a well executed horror movie that shocked and scared in all the right places. That’s all we can ask for.
